This is a dumb proposal. Where else would you lodge a noise complaint from other than from your own home? (Do people call the city to complain about noises in public places? I've never heard of this.)

Why would you need an app that uses GPS tracking on your smartphone when you are calling from home?

GREAT idea! It should even be expanded MORE - as an app that ACTUALLY DOES help us NYC'ers lodge complaints with 311, and/or othersvcs that are needed.

I've got horribly noisy neighbors, and I've also TWO buildings a few doors down (opposite each other)being used asILLEGAL hotels AND... whorehouses.

It blew my mind a month ago when there was a 'crackdown' on these illegal conversions... And NOTHING was done. They've been there for YEARS!

Not sure why someone would waste their time posting rude comments on ideas they don't like, when they could simply not vote for them... that's the fun of this whole website! Get the ideas out there!

Anyhoo, I think it's a great idea - [I think I proposed a similar one =-) ]... It's WAY easier and faster to submit based on GPS location, even if you are only posting from home, because users won't have to waste their time entering in their address information... Also, can be useful for those NYers who work late nights and need to concentrate at alternative locations.

I've been told there is already a 311 app in existence, but I haven't checked it out. If other 311 issues can be wrapped in conjunction with this noise complaint issue, I would like to use that app!

agreed on the dumb. just call 311, or TEXT them....you could say you want their texts to embed geolocation

NYC has a 311 app for I-phone and soon for droid. It has been available for more than a year. Download it from the app store today
