good idea, already exists in parts, will help people use car / bike / vehicle sharing, potentially reduce some traffic thus also parking spots. a unified system is better than an individual one for every provider, thus making it more relevant for consumers. combine with bicycle sharing like in Berlin/Paris/Montreal and it´s great.
Thank you for your comment Clay S. I believe it merits the attention of our city planners. I'm sure there are many residents and visitors of the city that would find this to be a useful app.
Thank you for input Carole P. I became aware of the competition at the last minute so there was no time for me to do an extensive check before submitting idea. I must disagree about the usage of city resources. In my humble opinion, it's an excellent opportunity to create a useful tool for residents and tourists. Wide promotion and usage of the app could help alleviate air quality issues, traffic congestion, parking space shortages, etc. and that could actually boost NYC revenues.
Thank you for your thoughts Alex D. I wholeheartedly agree with your input. Let's hope that others also have the vision to see the myriad of benefits that the development of this idea can generate. One small idea that can help to resolve some big problems.
Perhaps the application exists in some form but access to such is limited. Especially for those who live in urban locations,
If offered as a NYC application, info/offering is available to all borough residents and visitors even through 311. These type of cars are generally hybrid and/or electric, therefore at minimum help to improve air quality.
The more people know, the greater the demand, Which in turns creates expansion - more locations, more small business and therefore jobs/entrepreneurial ops for new yorkers. Good idea w/long range benefits. JMO

This feels like something that will get built on purely commercial grounds.
I didn't check but likely it already exists. Great idea but not the best use of city resources
